Creating an equitable environment where women feel safe and included is an ongoing journey. WCH is relentless in its pursuit of cultivating a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion both inside and outside the hospital walls. It’s a value that’s demonstrated by the enthusiasm of #TeamWCH to join meaningful, equity-based initiatives, learn from one another and become leaders, whether it be as a member of the Corporate Equity Committee, at equity-based celebrations throughout the year or in developing Affinity Groups to ensure all people feel supported and seen.

This photo essay shares impactful initiatives and powerful testimonials demonstrating how action fosters inclusion at WCH.

International Women’s Day

This International Women’s Day, we asked staff, volunteers, physicians and community members how they inspire inclusion in gender equity. Here are some of their answers:

I inspire inclusion in gender equity by…

  • “Building awareness of the health gaps and how we can close them.”
  • “Advocating for and conducting research focused on women and women’s health.”
  • “Including women, trans and non-binary folks in all levels of decision making.”
  • “Encouraging fellow women in STEM to pursue their careers.”
  • “Developing different partnerships in medical imaging to promote gender inclusion.”
  • “Meeting people where they are and treating everyone with kindness and compassion.”
  • “Working on projects that empower women and aim to reduce disparities in healthcare.”
