Celebrating 140 years and beyond
One hundred and forty years ago, Women’s College Hospital was founded by a tenacious group of women who were resolute in their belief that healthcare was for everyone. Our legacy of being first began with them, and we haven’t stopped since – the first to focus on the health of women, the first to open a cancer detection clinic, the first to offer comprehensive reproductive care and the first to design a hospital to keep people out of hospital.
In the pages that follow you’ll read about some of our most recent “firsts” rooted in our values of equity, people, quality, courage, curiosity and partnership. They are the stories of #TeamWCH – a group of compassionate, persistent and creative clinicians, administrators, scientists, learners and volunteers who come to work each day determined to do their best for all of us. We are grateful for all they do.
The future of Women’s College Hospital is bright. In the years ahead, we will be guided by our new strategic plan and our mission to transform healthcare for women and gender-diverse people, delivering better outcomes, access and patient experience through equitable and connected care, learning and discovery. We will continue to push boundaries in pursuit of our “next firsts” as progressive leaders challenging the status quo to revolutionize healthcare in our hospital and beyond our walls. One hundred and forty years later, we are just getting started — and the best is yet to come.
Thank you!
