As we reflect on 2023, the Foundation team is reminded of the incredible and leading work done at Women’s College Hospital. In every announcement, patient story, discovery or research finding; in every engagement with WCH’s medical team, frontline staff, volunteer, or executive – excellence prevails. This consistent and relentless drive toward innovation and commitment to service is what drives us to pursue our purpose: to support WCH’s work to uplift medical care in a revolutionary way.

Our Foundation team works hand-in-hand with the hospital to tell stories that have excited and inspired those who can, to give. We share accounts of innovation, resilience and belief, and we are joined by individuals, corporations and foundations who demonstrate compassion, trust and hope by helping to blaze new trails.

Our history is part of each story. From being the first hospital in Canada to allow women to practice medicine 140 years ago to now leading groundbreaking research in women’s health – our hospital is no stranger to making critical, life-saving advances for women and other equity-deserving populations.

From revolutionary research that detects and prevents heart disease in women to mental health programs for postpartum mothers, the work being done at WCH is endlessly relevant. You can hear it in their voices when they tell you about the care their mothers, daughters, or community members received. You can feel their passion and interest when they learn about each and every new step taken toward improving the care of women and equity-deserving populations. You can see it in their eyes when they share how their life was saved because of WCH.

Women are leaders, visionaries and trailblazers. They are the backbones of our communities, families, and nations – and they deserve care that sees and meets them in all their amazing and distinct qualities.
